BII Transportation Technology (Beijing) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “BII-TTBJ” or “Company), a subsidiary of BII Railway Transportation Technology Holdings Company Limited, passed the on-site evaluation of CMMI5 (software capability maturity and project management level 5) on November 23, 2018. CMMI INSTITUTE officially announced on the official website today that the company has passed and obtained the certificate.

CMMI (Capability Maturity Model Integration) is jointly developed by the United States Department of Defense, Carnegie-Mellon University and the United States National Defense Industrial Association. It is an important international standard for evaluating the capability maturity of software enterprises. It is also an internationally accepted standard for enterprises in development process and quality management. Whether they can pass CMMI certification is an important indicator for measuring the engineering development capability of software enterprises in the world. CMMI model is divided into 5 levels, covering 22 process areas, and level 5 is the highest level. It is the highest certification of excellent performance in standardization, normalization and maturity of enterprise software development.

As early as 2015, BII-TTBJ has obtained CMMI3 certification, and started CMMI5 process improvement in 2016. With the joint efforts of the company and its employees, the company has established a set of simple and efficient project process management system, project development process system, project support process system as well as process management and improvement system that are in line with the company’s business practice. After project implementation and system validation, the company’s internal project management level and development standardization have been greatly improved, and a number of backbone personnel of project management, quality management and process improvement have been trained, forming a team which is familiar with CMMI model, process improvement process and has rich practical experience.

In the evaluation process, a large amount of organization and project data need to be collected, and the process of “sample data sampling-measurement- establishment of PPB, PCB baseline -PPM modeling-verification-analysis summary-feedback to the organization” is carried out by means of statistical control. CMMI5 process improvement plays a vital role in improving the company’s project management quality, enhancing the R&D management capability and productivity, strengthening the quantitative management and process improvement capability, and continuously promoting the optimization and management capability of project operation process. At the same time, the product delivery quality and customer satisfaction are also improved to a greater extent.

The passing of CMMI5 indicates that BII-TTBJ can not only implement project management through information and digital means, but also make full use of project measurement data, to prevent possible problems in the process of project implementation through model prediction, actively improve process, apply new technologies and optimize the process, and develop the capability of software technology. It has reached new heights in software technology development, project management capability, organizational capability and project delivery capability, etc.
